Sano flowers are the artificial flowers made from the Sola Tree (Sano Hang Kai Tree) that grows in the central part of Thailand. This tree grows rapidly in the rainy season, which is generally from July through September. The Sola Tree is planted in crops in paddy style fields and matures once the trees reache six feet high. The outer bark is peeled to reveal the inner bark, which is white in colour. This tissue can be rolled out, like a gauze cloth and is then dried in the sunlight to prevent decaying. After drying, skilled artists create lifelike replicas of petals or flowers.
